Abstract:

This paper investigated how the great Bazaar of Tabriz in Iran can provide a manmade environment supply an applicable place for various range of activities using renewableenergy in a cold climate. The type and thickness of implemented materials with an acceptable heat capacity and arched shape ofroof could be responsible for fallowing main challenges. Firstly, thick brick walls store the passive-solar energy from external surfaces toprovide heat in cold seasons. Secondly, thetechnical form of roofs operates like an insulation to conduct the internal heat in frozen times. Also Its external surface plays a similar role in warmer seasons to entering the sunlight beams into the bazaar, even the heating rate that comes from human influences it. Thirdly, the long and porch branches of bazaar with 40km length seem like a sophisticated tunnel under ground. This paper analyzes the form of two different vents to show how they can ventilate high porch places and long passages just by a few simple vents since severalcenturies before the modern tunnels. Analyzing the plans and sections clarified the technique of domesticating sunlight without wasting a lot of internal energies. In other word, the paper analyzed some traditional architecture techniques those are viable in contemporary buildings describing some clearexamples. To reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses developing simple and economical techniques enhance the rate ofrenewable energies in a whole range is vital to protect the ecosystem.
