Abstract:
The stabilization of unstable sliding slopes is particularly crucial because if these slopes are not stabilized, they can cause significant harm to people and property. Micropiles can be used to stabilize the unstable slopes and provide adequate safety for them by mobilization of axial, shear, and bending resistance. These elements are installed in one or more lines parallel to the crest of the slope, to provide resistance to down-slope movement. This paper explains a case study of an unstable soil slope located on marl rock underneath a flare structure in the south of Iran. A composite micropile system was designed to stabilize the unstable soil slope. In this study the design procedure was described and the results of numerical modeling using Abaqus and Geoslope softwares were presented. Furthermore, the site investigation after the installation of complex micropile system indicated the effectiveness of designed soil improvement system in soil slope stabilization.
