Abstract:

In the present work, the process of hydrogen evolution by photoelectrochemical water splitting was investigated in the presence of titanium carbide/bismuth vanadate nanocatalyst. For this purpose, bismuth vanadate (BiVO۴) and titanium carbide (Ti۳C۲) nanosheets were synthesized by hydrothermal method. After the preparation of titanium carbide/bismuth vanadate nanocomposite (Ti۳C۲/BiVO۴), the synthesized nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The performance ofnanostructures as photocatalysts in the hydrogen evolution reaction was evaluated and compared by linear scanning voltammetry (LSV) method. Based on the results, Ti۳C۲/BiVO۴ nanocomposite with overpotential -۲۱.۲ of was selected as promising catalyst for HER.
