Abstract:
Introduction: Body image plays a very important role in the quality of life and hope for individuals, as there is a close relationship between body image and physical activity. Therefore, the present study aimed to compare body dissatisfaction among physical education students and non-physical education students. Objectives/Questions/Hypotheses: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of academic fields on the level of satisfaction with body image. Research Methodology (society, Sample, Sampling Method): This research was a comparative study. The statistical population of this study included ۸۰ physical education students and ۸۰ non-physical education students who were randomly selected. Research Instrument: In this study, the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire (MBSRQ) was used. Research Procedure: In this research, ۱۶۰ physical education and non-physical education students filled the MBSRQ questionnaire, ۸۰ of which were physical education students and ۸۰ were non-physical education students. The participants filled the questionnaire carefully. Whenever they had questions about the questions, they were answered by the researcher. Results: The findings of this study showed that there is a significant difference in the evaluation of facial appearance, body shape evaluation, body orientation, and body satisfaction between physical education students and non-physical education students. Dissatisfaction with body image was more evident among non-physical education students compared to physical education students. Discussion and Conclusion: Lack of physical activity can lead to negative emotions and dissatisfaction with body image.
