A Case for the Permissibility of Looking at a Non-Mahram Based on the Rule of Abolishing Specificity in the Authentic Hadith of ʿAbbād ibn Ṣuhayb

n this article, we seek to analyze and examine the doctrine of authentic hadith of ʿAbbād ibn Ṣuhayb; after clarification of the issue, we discuss the issue in two distinct parts. In the first part, by referring to Qur’an and Sunna, the limitation for strangers when looking at women that is instituted by Sharia is defined. In second part, after presenting two hadiths, we illuminate the fact that looking at non-Muslim women who do not cover themselves according to Sharia without temptation is allowed. Further deliberation on hadith of ʿAbbād ibn Ṣuhayb. Regarding the rule of abolishing specificity, this article reveals the consent to non-temptatious looking at Muslim women who deliberately do not cover themselves according to Sharia while the acts of enjoining good and forbidding evil does not change this course of action absolutely. this article was written using descriptive analytical methods .Abolishing Specificity, Non-Muslim, Muslim, Ḥijāb, Flaunt.
