Abstract:
Food security is a fundamental human right that must be upheld to preserve excellent general welfare, and mental, physical, and social health. Since natural ecosystems play an important role in providing food security, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the economic and financial evaluation of animal husbandry business plan based on rangeland ecosystem services in order to increase the efficiency of red meat production in Iran. Food security is a critical global concern, and livestock production plays a pivotal role in meeting the increasing demand for meat products. The feedlot lamb business plan takes this need into account by optimizing the production process and utilizing rangeland ecosystem services efficiently. The positive financial indicators, including a net present value (NPV) of ۱۸۵,۸۳۸,۰۱۶ Tomans, a return on investment (ROI) of ۱.۷۶, and an internal rate of return (IRR) of ۲۶%, demonstrate the business's favorable economic prospects. Moreover, a benefit-cost ratio (B/C) of ۱.۲۵ reinforces its economic efficiency. By enhancing meat production, the business directly contributes to food security by helping meet the rising demand for protein-rich food. This is particularly important during market fluctuations and external shocks. Additionally, the business's focus on diversifying income sources through processed product sales and wool utilization promotes a sustainable and holistic approach to livestock production. By minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency, the business aligns with food security strategies. In summary, the economic evaluation of the feedlot lamb business plan demonstrates its viability and potential profitability, while emphasizing its role in addressing food security. By optimizing production processes, utilizing rangeland ecosystem services, and diversifying income sources, the business not only meets the demand for meat products but also supports sustainable food production practices, contributing to the overall goal of food security.
