Efficacy of ginger in the treatment of migraine: A systematic review

Abstract:
Migraine is a common neuromuscular disorder characterized by recurrent headaches and is known as oneof the most common causes of disability and a major public health problem. Objective: To study the effectsof ginger in the management of migraine, the efficacy of using ginger on patients with migraine headacheswas assessed in the present systematic review.To source the studies, data search was performed through the following databases using the relevantterms: PubMed/Medline, Scopus, EMBASE, and Science Direct.We identified ۵ studies. The overall data suggest some favorable effects of ginger in migraine treatment.Ginger could promote a reduction in pain severity and migraine-associated symptoms. Also, ginger was welltolerated in the most patients.Our study suggests that ginger administration has beneficial effects on different aspects of thiscomplicated disorder. However, the results are insufficient to make a firm conclusion.
