Abstract:

Food packaging sheets made of biodegradable polymers can take the place of synthetic, nonbiodegradablepolymers in an economical and environmentally beneficial manner. Therefore, in order topreserve food warmth in food packaging, this study examined the creation and characterization ofbiodegradable sheets based on cellulose acetate (CA) through the electrospinning process. Therefore, the CAsolution was made by acetone/ dimethylacetamide (۲:۱) with oxygen-enriched methods. SEM and FTIR werecarried out to peruse surface morphology and analyze chemical components. The Togmeter device utilizingthe two-plate test method was accomplished based on the BS ۴۰۴۵:۲۷۷۵ to measure the thermalconductivity of CA nanofibrous media and tensile strength testing performed according to ASTM D۶۳۶-۱۷.Results showed that the CA preparation by the oxygen-enriched method could be electrospun fibers insuper high amounts in a short time. Moreover, the SEM image shows that CA nanofibers have few beads, smooth and monotonous surfaces, and vibration peaks of FTIR prove the pure CA sheet. Also, the CAmembrane thermal conductivity was calculated at ۷.۱ W.m-۱. K-۱with ۷.۲۲۵ (SD=۷.۷۷۵) thickness, andthe stress of the CA sheet reached ۱۶.۶۵ MPa under ۲.۵۰۲ strain. Therefore, this study presents the goodpotential of ultra-low thickness CA electrospun sheets to preserve food warmth in food packaging.
