Abstract:

Nothing can introduce you to different cultures like historical structures. That is why historical buildings are of great importance worldwide, and governments strive to ensure their preservation as valuable legacies. Given the abundance of historical sites in Iran, we intend to examine one of the well-known historical structures in Mashhad. The Behesht Cultural Center, located on Jannat Street, has a history of over ۸۰ years and belongs to the Qajar and Pahlavi eras. The process of architectural changes in Iran occurred slowly before the Qajar period. However, this process gained momentum starting from the Qajar era due to increased interactions with the West. This momentum continued during the Pahlavi period, leading to extensive and fundamental changes that had not been witnessed until that time. The architectural and decorative features of this structure are indicative of the Qajar and Pahlavi eras. However, due to the absence of historical inscriptions, it is not possible to determine the exact date of its construction. In this article, by examining and comparing the architectural features of the Qajar and Pahlavi eras with the features of the Behesht Cultural Center, we will determine which historical era it belongs to.
