Abstract:

The intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainable architecture represents an exciting frontier in the quest for environmentally friendly and efficient design solutions. This comprehensive review illuminates the concept and evolution of AI, its diverse applications across sectors, and the current advancements and limitations in the field. Furthermore, the discussion delves into the definition and importance of sustainable architecture, along with its principles, practices, and the challenges it faces today. Highlighting the intertwining of AI and sustainable architecture, the review examines how AI is applied in this sector and presents key studies and projects to illustrate its role. The opportunities AI provides for architects and designers in creating sustainable solutions are discussed, followed by a critical analysis of the effectiveness, potential risks, and ethical implications of AI in enhancing sustainability in architecture. A detailed analysis of several case studies showcasing the use of AI in sustainable architecture is presented, emphasizing the successful applications and potential pitfalls. Finally, the discussion extends to the future potential of AI in sustainable architecture, suggesting research paths or technologies to further enhance its role, and culminates in concluding remarks about the implications of these findings for architects, policymakers, and society
