Oxidation of sulfides by Cu+/g-C3N4 as catalyst under visible lightirradiation abstract
In this manuscript, graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) decorated with the Cu+ salt as a novel photocatalystwas used in the photocatalytic oxidation of sulfides. Cu+/g-C3N4 depicts more efficient and higherphotocatalytic capability in the oxidation of sulfides under visible light irradiation compared with g-C3N4. The co-doped catalysts showed significantly enhanced photocatalytic ability, due to improvedphotogenerated electrons transfer, enhanced charge carriers separation and extended optical absorptionto the visible light range. Moreover, the synergistic effect of dopants that could act as electron trappingcenters and graphitic carbon nitride as a powerful acceptor material efficiently reduced photogeneratedelectron-hole recombination and promoted charge migration. This study provides a new insight for thepreparation of highly efficient photocatalysts for the oxidation of organic compounds.
