A Review of Drag Reduction Research Using Riblets

Drag reduction using riblets has been found great attention in recent years due to their passive influence on flying objects in the air and for moving vehicles on the free surface or under the surface of water. In this paper, a review of riblet structures and their effectiveness and applications in reducing the drag force is done from past to present between the years ۱۹۷۷-۲۰۲۳. The main objective of this research is to identify the most effective drag reduction riblet structures at various ranges of Reynolds and Mach numbers. For this purpose, a relatively complete literature review was done based on the most important articles published in the fluid dynamics or related journals. The most important results in the previous research articles were reviewed and the efficiency or deficiencies of various riblet structures were discussed.
