Abstract:

Background and aim: Considering the non-invasiveness, sensitivity and specificity of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and its ability to diagnose prostate lesions in the early stages, the purpose of this study is to determine the value of the magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) method compared to the standard method (Pathology) was for the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Method: This analytical cross-sectional study was conducted on ۳۵ male patients. People with indications for prostate biopsy were first subjected to PSA test and finger examination. It should be noted that the negative or positive result of MRS in terms of imaging method of the patients did not affect the biopsy. After evaluating the patients by MRS method, the results of MRS and prostate biopsy were evaluated for each patient separately and compared with the pathological results of biopsy. To check the diagnostic value of the test, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of the test were calculated. Results: The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of MRS of the left prostate region were calculated as ۱۰۰%, ۶۶.۷%, ۳۳.۳%, and ۱۰۰%, respectively. On the right side of the prostate, it was ۵۰%, ۹۳%, ۵۰%, ۹۳% respectively. The diagnostic accuracy of MRS was calculated to be ۷۱.۴% in the diagnosis of prostate cancer in the left area and ۸۸.۵۷% in the right area. On both sides, the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of the test were calculated as ۸۷.۵%, ۵۹.۳%, ۳۸.۹%, and ۹۴.۱%, respectively, and the diagnostic accuracy of NAST was calculated as ۶۵.۷%. Conclusion: MRS as a non-invasive method has optimal sensitivity, specificity and accuracy compared to other pathological and clinical methods.
