Introduction:
Telehealth involves providing nursing services through electronic platforms such as video conferencing, remote monitoring of patients using electronic devices, and telephone calls. It is used to provide care for elderly people, children, and families.
Telehealth technology can help in delivering personalized and integrated patient care and monitoring. This study aims to explore the potential of telehealth as a model for delivering nursing care, along with its advantages and disadvantages, in order to encourage a forward-thinking approach to nursing care delivery.Methodology: A survey was conducted across various databases, including Scopus, Pubmed, Cochrane, CINAHL, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, spanning from 2010 to 2024. Following PRISMA guidelines, keywords such as telemedicine, telehealth, Technology, nursing care delivery model and nursing care were used to extract 30 relevant articles The review excluded studies published in languages other than English and Persian, expert opinions, conference abstracts, case reports, and studies without full text. A checklist was used to evaluate and validate the clinical trial studies. 13 articles were eliminated based on these criteria, resulting in 17 articles identified for inclusion in the final analysis.Discussion: Tele-nursing is a communication-based technology used in family nursing, specifically with the elderly and children. This technology offers numerous benefits, such as supplementing the nursing workforce, delivering nursing services remotely, enhancing the efficiency of home care, and lowering treatment expenses. Additionally, it helps alleviate loneliness among the elderly, improves patient comfort, and reduces anxiety for family caregivers. Nurses who utilize tele-nursing can offer education, monitoring, pain management, and support for families. Nevertheless, challenges like high costs in underserved regions, resistance and refusal from the elderly, and limitations on high-speed computer networks also exist. Conclusion: The education and ongoing training of healthcare personnel in the use of telemedicine applications is a crucial factor for the success of this technology. By using telemedicine, costs can be reduced, nursing care can be improved, and hospital resources can be saved. However, further research is necessary to regulate and standardize the practice of telemedicine.
