Abstract:

Health literacy (HL) of family members plays an important role in promoting health in society. That is, by improving HL, we can achieve a healthy society in which the risk of disease decreases and life expectancy increases. With the purpose of raising HL level, the present research recommends medical checkups every ۶ month to control the body and especially the immunological status of it. ۱۰ families were randomly selected and ۵ of them give special importance and completed basic medical checkups every six month. Medical tests include blood tests, cholesterol and sugar, thyroid, creatinine, sodium, liver and kidney tests. Some tests are gender-specific, such as prostate exam for men and a mammogram or Pap smear for women. The findings showed that families with high HL, completed full checkups and have a longer life expectancy and less diseases compared to families who avoid this. They were informed about the symptoms, diagnosed their illness quickly and treated it on time and improved the health level of the body's immunity. This study ensures the family health by ensuring the society health, and a healthy society consists of families who have HL under the shadow of education and believe this valuable saying "prevention is better than cure".
