Abstract:

Natural organic matter (NOM) from Haraz river in north of iran were fractionated by Amicon YM ultrafiltration membranes (Ultracel regenerated cellulose) into five nominal fractions ( <1, 1-10, 10-30, 30-100 and >100 kDa ). Ultrafiltration (UF) fractionation was employed to produce well- esolved molecular weight having organic carbon concentration high enough to carry out membrane performance experiments. In this work , cascade technique was selected tofractionate dissolved organic carbon (DOC) according to The molecular weight and the application of commercial ultrafiltration membranes Was evaluatedfor NOM isolation. During the various ultrafiltration experiments, the permeated flux was found between 7.6and 85.1 (lhm) . The different applied pressure were 2 and 4 bar, and also temperature was kept constant at 25. The results demonstrated that DOC with Molecularweight fraction of less than 1 KDa is the most portion of raw surface water at both operating pressure (about 42%at 4 bar and 40% at 2 bar ) . The results shows that The raw water from the Haraz River contained higher hydrophilic Fraction than the hydrophobic fraction.
