A parametric analysis of a bi-directional tuned liquid columndamper abstract
In this study, a numerical model for the numerical modelling of a bi-directional tuned liquid columndamper has been developed. Since a viscous fluid is considered for this purpose, the governing equationsare the Navier-Stokes equations. For modelling, OpenFOAM software is utilized. The output of themodel is chosen to be the moment that is applied to the tank body as a result of the pitch moving atvarious amplitudes and periods. Following the model's validation, a sensitivity analysis was conductedon the geometrical parameters of the bi-directional tuned liquid column damper and water level, and thefindings were presented. As a final step, a curve fitting was performed to estimate the maximum momentcaused by the sloshing impact on the bi-directional tuned liquid column damper.
