Investigation of the effect of simultaneous variations in ammonia concentration and solar collector field temperature on the thermodynamic performance of the combined Kalina and absorption refrigeration cogeneration cycle abstract

In this paper, the combined Kalina and absorption refrigeration cogeneration cycle using the solar collector field as the heat source is investigated. The energy and exergy balance equations for each component of the cycle are applied and the effects of simultaneous changes in the ammonia concentration and the heat source temperature on the thermodynamic performance of the cogeneration cycle are studied. The results indicate that in the variation range of the heat source temperature, the minimum value of the efficiency occurs at lower values of the ammonia concentration at the exit of the absorber, but the amount of EUF has an upward behavior in the entire range of ammonia concentration variations. Also, in the ammonia vapor concentration low values, with increasing the temperature of the heat source, the values of EUF, COP and the produced power and cooling parameters have an almost constant trend, but in the higher values of the ammonia vapor concentration, the amount of the mentioned parameters will have a downward behavior with increasing the temperature of the heat source. Also, it is shown that the absorber has the highest amount of the exergy destruction rate among the studied cogeneration cycle components by 39% and the boiler and the condenser are in the next ranks.
