Evaluation of Soil Clay Components Using Vibrational Spectroscopy abstract
Vibrational spectroscopy can measure some soil properties using the spectral behavious and signatures of soil forming constiuents. To prove this, randomized sampling was done in Mazandaran soils from 0-15 cm of the surface. For spectral analyses, the sampling points were divided into two groups for calibration and evaluation processes. The PLS chemometric approach was used along with the preprocessing such as averaging, smoothing with SGF, 1st and 2nd derivative transformations. The most influential wavelengths were discovered for clay components. They were 470-510 nm in visible, 1280-1530, 1720-1920, 2100-2230 and 2330-2430nm in SWIR domains. Afterwards the best fitted model for clay fraction was also made according to the model analytical parameters such as Rc, R2c and RMSEc, Consequently the capability of vibrational spectroscopy to study the spectral behaviours and responses of soil clay components in Mazandaran province was confirmed.
