Soil-pile interaction in unsaturated condition abstract

Experimental studies carried out on the pile and helical anchor model to investigate the effect of degree of saturation on the behavior of these geotechnical structures and the correlation of the degree of saturation in the case of lateral behavior of the pile under both cyclic and monotonic loading and the pull-out behavior of the helical anchor investigated. It is evident from the result that variation in the degree of saturation has a strong impact on both pile and helical anchor for different types of loading. The results imply that with an increase in matric suction the lateral resistance of the pile raised also its variation has the same trend with the tensile bearing capacity of the helical anchor.
