ImageWatermarking Based on Reference SharingMechanism for Tamper Detection and Recovery with Special Care about ROI Recovery

This paper proposes a watermarking scheme based on reference sharing mechanism in spatial domain. Unlike conventional watermarking algorithms, the watermark to beembedded is a reference derived from the original principal content in different regions and shared by these regions forcontent recovery. After identifying tampered blocks, both the reference data and the original content in the reserved area are used to recover the principal content in the tampered areas. Inthe proposed algorithm, the image is divided into two parts: the important part that is named region of interest (ROI) and theless important part that is named region of non-interest (RONI). If the image is tampered, after identifying tampered blocks, ifthe tampering rate is low, the whole image is recovered;otherwise at least the ROI can be recovered accurately.
