A Review Of The Epidemiology, Pathogenesis And Treatment Of Lassa Hemorrhagic Fever Virus abstract
Lassa hemorrhagic fever is an acute viral disease that occurs in certain regions of West Africa and was first identified in 1950. The Lassa virus belongs to the Arenaviridae family and spreads through direct contact with insects and animals infected with the virus. Due to the fact that Lassa fever does not have specific symptoms, clinical diagnosis is often difficult, especially in early stages of the disease, and accurate diagnosis can be obtained by serological and molecular tests in specialized laboratories. Although it typically lasts 6 to 12 days, the infection is accompanied by high fever and fatal manifestations. Initial and nonspecific symptoms include headache, arthralgia, myalgia, diarrhea, vomiting, and liver and kidney damage with bleeding. In this study, scientific databases such as PubMed and Scopus were used to search for articles, and only articles with full text were included.
