Evaluating the effects of attention on reaction time by electromyography of selected leg muscles abstract

Surface electromyography is one of the non-invasive methods for receiving neuromuscular signals, which can be used to measure a person's reaction time. In this study, 9 healthy males with an age range of 23 ± 2 were voluntarily subjected to electromyography signal acquisition from the right leg under the Gastrocnemius muscle in a single channel in two stages and their reactions during these two stages Was recorded. The results of this study showed that in the reaction time test, people record more time for reaction when speaking and not concentrating. So that the average reaction time difference of 9 tested people is about 22.1%. The accuracy and reproducibility of the tool used in this study, as well as its non-invasiveness, have made the use of this tool a suitable option in investigating the occurrence of human errors, including driving and industrial activities. It is suggested that this tool be used in designing new standard tests in the field of driving for obtaining and renewing a driver's license based on the neuromuscular condition.
