The Shahnameh, an influential work of Persian literature holds profound cultural and literarysignificance. It not only preserves the ancient history and heritage of Persia but also serves as acornerstone of Persian identity and nationalism. Through its rich narratives and vivid characterportrayals, the Shahnameh provides deep insights into the values, beliefs, and social structures ofancient Persian society. A particularly notable aspect of the Shahnameh is its depiction ofwomen, which reflects the complexities of their roles within a patriarchal framework, highlighting their strengths, vulnerabilities, and the societal constraints they face. Accordingly, this paper will examine the status of women depicted in the Shahnameh, analyzing how theirroles and portrayals vary across its three main narrative sections: the Mythical Age, the HeroicAge, and the Historical Age.
