Abstract:
Solar steam generation is an efficient, environmentally friendly technology for water purification. Inthis study, an integrated absorber of solar steam generation system was fabricated based on carbonxerogel nanoparticles as the top light-absorbing layer, and cellulose cryogel microfibers as the carbonxerogel substrate, heat-insulating layer, and water-supplying layer. The absorber showed a poroustexture and good sunlight absorption (over ۹۷.۵%). With the absorber, the photothermal waterevaporation efficiency of ۷۹% was achieved under ۱ kWm-۲ irradiation, while it was about ۴۹%without the absorber present. According to the results, the monolithic carbon-cellulose absorber, consisting of nano-micro pores and a particle-fiber structure, was a promising material for solar steamgeneration applications due to its porous nature, high light absorption, simple preparation, low costand use of cellulose, an available bio-based hydrophilic polymer
