A comprehensive study on the role of using smart (Faham) power meters in improving productivity of the power electricdistribution companies (Study case: North of Kerman Electric power Distribution Company)

Smart meters or Faham meters are measuring devices that, due to the structure they have for sendingand receiving information through related software, provide a lot of information to the users of differentfields compared to non-smart digital meters. These meters have features and advantages that havecaused a huge change in improving processes and increasing productivity in the electricity distributionsystem. Features such as remote reading and control, two-way communication with software related tosmart meters, the possibility of monitoring and data exchange, etc., which in addition to creating thenecessary potentials for the growth and improvement of approaches in electricity distribution, increasethe efficiency of the system. Despite the number of more than 20,000 smart meters installed in Northof Kerman electric power distribution company, the improvement and effectiveness of this issue invarious areas such as human resources, exploitation, consumption management, and economic areasare very tangible and visible. In this article, an attempt has been made to briefly state the effects andresults of the use of smart meters in improving processes and increasing productivity and quality in theNorth of Kerman electric power distribution company by mentioning the necessary examples.
