Alternative Energies, A Solution To Climate Change And Sustainable Energy, Focusing On Gas Hydrates abstract

Carbon capture is a vital technology in the fight against climate change, as it directly addresses the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2), from industrial sources and the atmosphere. By capturing and storing CO2, we can mitigate its harmful impact on the environment, helping to stabilize global temperatures and reduce the risk of severe climate phenomena. Implementing carbon capture technologies, such as direct air capture, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), and geological sequestration, allows for the reduction of carbon footprints in key sectors like energy production, manufacturing, and transportation. These technologies complement the shift towards renewable and alternative energy sources, creating a more sustainable and resilient energy system. Utilizing gas hydrates as an alternative energy source presents a promising approach to combat climate change through carbon sequestration. Gas hydrates, composed primarily of methane (CH4) trapped within water molecules, are abundant in permafrost and ocean sediments. Their exploitation offers dual benefits: providing a substantial energy source and contributing to carbon capture and storage (CCS). This article examines the importance of tackling climate change with the help of carbon capture and storage and the use of alternative energies with a focus on gas hydrates as a promising solution with the hope of preventing global warming and achieving sustainable energy.
