Determination of Optimal Trajectory for a Fed-Batch Bioreactor via DARLA Algorithm abstract
When a part of living cells is added to the bioreactor medium the process starts. Then by increasing the number of the cells the growth process occures. The cells use the carbon source to grow. This source is called substrate. Fed- batch bioreactor is a kind of bioreactor in which the substrate is added at, or over, particular intervals during the batch and the product is withdrawn at the end of the batch. In this paper a process is considered in which the cells use glucose as the primary substrate and as soon as the glucose is finished they start to consume ethanol as the second substrate. It is undesirable to use ethanol as the substrate, so a feed is inserted to the system when the glucose is completely consumed to ensure maximum concentration of ethanol at the end of the batch. To reach this goal an optimal method is used to get the optimal feed which can ensure the maximum ethanol concentration. DARLA method is used as this optimal method in this pape
