Investigating Sports Tourism Capacities in Iran abstract

In this paper, sports tourism capacities in Iran hase been investigate. The research method of this paper is descriptive method and in order to gathering data, the documentary method adopted. Base on the results the socio-cultural role of the local and regional community, government policies, geographic characteristics of the region, characteristics of tourists, public and sports characteristics of hidden areas and organizations responsible for hidden areas were identified as the main components in the development of sports tourism in hidden areas. Implicit in this research is the recognition that sportstourism is a significant cultural, social and economic phenomenon. There have been a number of attempts to define sports tourism. We define sports tourism as all forms of active and passive involvement in sporting activity, participated in casually or in an organized way for non-commercial or commercial reasons and necessitating travel away from home. Sports tourism simply identifies tourism activities involving sports. It is the simple combination of both sport and tourism. Base on the results, the socio-cultural role of the local and regional community, government policies, geographic characteristics of the region, characteristics of tourists, public and sports characteristics of hidden areas and organizations responsible for hidden areas were identified as the main components in the development of sports tourism in hidden areas.
