The Effects of Employing Paraphrasing Skills to AvoidPlagiarism in Low Intermediate EFL Learners’ ParagraphWritings abstract
This research article investigates the effectiveness of teaching paraphrasing skills in improving theparagraph writing of low-intermediate English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. The study employs aquasi-experimental design incorporating both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore the impact ofparaphrasing on students' perceptions and writing abilities. The participants, 60 female ninth-grade juniorhigh school students in Yazd, Iran, were divided into control and experimental groups. The interventionspanned a 6-week writing course, utilizing paraphrasing tests and a confidence survey to collect data at threedifferent time points. The findings aim to contribute valuable insights into the relationship betweenparaphrasing skills and plagiarism prevention in EFL learners' writing.
