The world is constantly facing numerous advances in the field of science and technology. Among them, some technologies, such as the invention of machines and information technology, are considered a turning point in terms of extensive and remarkable transformation in human societies and are the beginning of a new era in the human world. Artificial intelligence is actually a branch of computer science that aims to provide algorithmic solutions so that intelligent machines can be created. The application of artificial intelligence in cities and its effects and consequences on the security of citizens and urban infrastructure is a topic that this research has addressed. This research is of an applied purpose and a descriptive-analytical type in terms of research method. The research findings show that the use of artificial intelligence by individuals, organized groups, governments, etc. can have both positive and negative effects on the security of citizens and urban infrastructure. This emerging phenomenon can have fundamental and mostly positive effects on urban traffic and transportation management, urban infrastructure management such as water, electricity, gas, crisis management, tourism, natural disaster prediction and warning, air pollution, citizen health and hygiene, urban diplomacy, urban business transformation, etc. On the other hand, the misuse of this advanced and modern technology by some governments, criminal gangs, terrorist groups, criminals, etc. can seriously threaten the security of life, economy, and civil rights of citizens.
