Abstract:

Esophageal cancer remains a highly aggressive malignancy, ranking seventh in incidence and sixth in mortalityamong men, with a notable impact on women as well. This study investigates the expression levels of HOTAIR, along non-coding RNA, and HOXC۱۳, a member of the HOX gene family, both located on chromosome ۱۲, toelucidate their roles in esophageal cancer pathogenesis. Utilizing a comprehensive literature review from ۲۰۲۲ to۲۰۲۵, we examined existing research on the molecular mechanisms influenced by these genes. Our findings indicatethat altered expression of HOTAIR and HOXC۱۳ correlates significantly with cancer progression and may act asprognostic markers. While no demographic correlations were identified with HOTAIR expression, increased levelsare associated with tumor recurrence. This investigation highlights the necessity for further research into theimplications of HOTAIR and HOXC۱۳ in esophageal cancer, potentially paving the way for novel preventive andtherapeutic strategies.
