Discovery of Genes Differentially EXpressed in Gastric Cancer abstract

Gastric cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related death worldwide, and the molecular mechanisms involved in gastric carcinogenesis are still not fully understood. Insufficient knowledge about the molecular elements involved in the disease has hindered development of diagnostic/prognostic biomarkers. Thus, patients are diagnosed at higher stages, which leads to a poor prognosis for these patients. This study aimed to determine highly expressed genes in 111 human gastric cancer tissues compared to 21 non-cancerous gastric tissues by high-density oligonucleotide microarray. The data of the study of Query DataSets-GSE54129 from NCBI Under the platform Affymetrix Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Array were extracted and analyzed. In this study, 1036 genes were highly over-expressed (logFC>0) in cancerous tissue was compared to tissue from healthy people. Conclusion: The highly over-expressed gene patterns and some important genes were identified, which might be useful in further study on carcinogenesis, progression, and metastasis of GC.
