The role of the Scythians in the transfer of military technologies from East to West abstract

This article investigates the Scythians' contribution to military technology transfer between East and West in antiquity. Situated along pivotal Eurasian trade routes, the Scythians utilized their location for cultural and technological exchanges with civilizations like the Greeks, Persians, and Romans. Celebrated for their mounted warfare expertise, the Scythians introduced battlefield innovations such as rapid flanking and feigned retreats. These strategies profoundly impacted adjacent cultures, advancing regional warfare evolution. Furthermore, the Scythians’ diplomatic and economic activities promoted the dissemination of sophisticated weaponry and tactics, improving their military prowess and that of other societies.
