AN EVALUATION OF AN ENGLISH FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEXT BOOK abstract
The choice of language teaching materials can determine the quality of learning-teaching procedure. As a part of the materials used in the language classroom, the textbook can often play a crucial role in students‟ success or failure. Therefore, particular attention must be paid to evaluate such materials based on valid and reliable instruments. One of the common methods to evaluate English Language Teaching (ELT) materials is the checklist. An evaluation checklist is an instrument that provides the evaluator with a list of features of successful learning-teaching materials. According to these criteria, evaluators like teachers, researchers as well as students can rate the quality of the material. This study aims to examine the advantages and disadvantages of one English language textbook (Advanced Professional English Language Program of Architecture) for which used architecture students in Iranian university. In this research, the text book is evaluated in term of validity and reliability
