Abstract:
we investigate the relationship between regional topography and seismic hazard estimation, utilizing regression analysis to assess the correlation between slope and seismic hazard. The analysis yielded a Multiple R of ۰.۱۶۷, indicating a weak correlation, and an R Square value of ۰.۰۲۸, suggesting that only about ۲.۸% of the variability in seismic hazard can be explained by the slope variable. The statistical significance of the regression model was confirmed with a Significance F of ۱.۱۸ ×۱۰−۶۱, indicating that the model is statistically significant despite its low explanatory power. The results highlight the challenges in accurately estimating earthquake hazards based on topographical features alone, as evidenced by the Standard Error of ۰.۰۱۹, which reflects considerable variability in the data. This study underscores the need for more comprehensive models that incorporate additional factors beyond topography to improve seismic hazard assessments in Behbahan and similar regions. Future research should explore integrating geological and historical seismic data to enhance predictive accuracy and inform urban planning and disaster preparedness strategies effectively.
