Abstract:
Magnetic nanoparticles offer new opportunities for biomedical application especially drug delivery due to their ease of synthesize and specific magnetic properties. Among different types of ferrite, Mn- ferrite nanoparticles possesses high saturation magnetization which is essential for drug delivery. Because of their hydrophobic affinity, they tend to agglomerate, as a result the surface modification with hydrophilic polymers are vital. In this work we produced mn- ferrite nanoparticles through a biocompatible chemical co-precipitation of Mn2+, Fe 2+and Fe3+ in a sodium hydroxide solution. Suucinid anhydride was used as a first stabilizer to prepare the surface for binding the palmitic acid modified PEG-Chitosan. To investigate the morphology and microstructure of nanoparticles X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmition electron microscopy (TEM) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), were achieved. Also, the vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) was carried out for measuring the magnetic properties and showing the superparamagnetism behavior. The results showed that pure spinel phase of Mn-Ferrite was obtained and the size was in the range of nanometere with good saturation magnetization (Ms) value (55 emu/g) . Also the FTIR results showed that polymer chains were covalently bound to the surface
