Abstract:
the key point in VoIP communication is the quality of voice at the receiving side, i.e., the received voice should be vivid and understandable. Since IP networks have not been designed for real-time applications, the network parameters such as packet loss, jitter, and delay, threaten quality of VoIP communications over such networks. Different mechanisms have been proposed to evaluate the quality of received voice, one of which is E-model, a computation model which uses transmission parameters to calculate the quality of received voice and indicates the results in term of MOS as a number ranged from 1 to 5. In this paper, we evaluate the quality of the received voice based on a new extended version of E-model which is used for both codecs of wideband and narrowband
