The Expression Challenge for Iranian Migrants abstract
The so-called literature of migration is written by a series of authors who come from the most diverse places and share the choice of writing in the language of the country they havemigrated to. This is probably the main characteristic of the literature of migration, which thus becomes a sort of testimony. The relationship with the second language, ofcourse, is far from being easy: it is often full of conflicts, made difficult by the fear thatthe new language could supplant the mother language and offend it. It is a challengewith the world around, but it is an even bigger challenge with oneself; the challenge ofpeople who can stake on their own independence and intelligence, and are willing to claim their freedom to finally describe themselves.Migrant literature often focuses on the social contexts in the migrants' country of origin which prompt them to leave, on the experience of migration itself, on the mixedreception which they may receive in the country of arrival, on experiences of racism and hostility, and on the sense of rootlessness and the search for identity which can resultfrom displacement and cultural diversity. But these are not the only issues these writerschoose for their stories and most writers start experimenting all diverse literary genres. The present papers focuses on the subject matter being used by the famous Iranianwriters who lived or living a part of their life abroad and are classified as immigrant writers such as Jamalzade, Hedayat, Chubak, Mandanipour, Sholevar, and Saedi to seewhether their works written in abroad and host countries are compatible to the standardsof the literature of migration, and what specific characteristics their works posses which distinct them among the world migrated authors.Since the World literature is no longer a system of European aesthetics and cultural values to be projected over the rest of the world, it is concluded that Iranian writers try to convey their message to the world more or less in the same manner the other migrant writers do, but they maintain their identity through some specific techniques
