Investigation of Static and Dynamic Holdup in a Pulsed Packed Column with Intermediate Interfacial Tension System abstract
Dynamic and static holdup are phandamental parameters in liquid-liquid extraction processes. Pulsed packed columns are one of the liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) equipment that has been investigated in this study. Studies have been carried out in water - acetic acid - butyl acetate system thathas intermediate interfacial tension. Studies have been carried out in without and with mass transfer states from dispersed to continuous phase and effect of various parameters such as pulse intensity, the ratio offlow rate of continuous to dispersed phase and concentration of transferring component on drop size,dynamic and static holdup has been investigated. It have been observed In the water-acetic acid-butyl acetate system, with increasing in pulse intensity and ratio of flow rates, dynamic holdup is increased and static holdup is decreased, with increasing in transferring component; dynamic holdup is decreased and static holdup is increased
