Analysis and Improvement of the Lightweight Mutual Authentication Protocol under EPC C-1 G-2 Standard abstract

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is a promising technology. It uses radio waves to identify objects. Through automatic and real-time data acquisition, thistechnology can give a great benefit to various industries by improving the efficiency of their operations. However, thisubiquitous technology has inherited problems in security andprivacy. EPC Class 1 Generation 2 has served as the most popular standard for passive RFID tags. To improve thesecurity of this standard, several protocols have been proposed compliant to this standard. In this paper we analyze the revisedYeh et al.’s(2010) protocol by Habibi et al.’s(2011) which is conforming to EPC-C1 G2 standard and is one of the most recent proposed protocols in this field. We discuss several drawbacks of this protocol, then we present our enhanced protocol which the security analysis showed that it can improve the security and privacy of RFID systems
