Abstract:
In this paper, a modified group search optimization (MGSO) algorithm for solving combined heat and power economic dispatch (CHPED) problem is presented. In addition, some modifications are implemented in order to improve conventional GSO searching ability. In this work, a sinusoidal term is employed to consider the valve-point effects and Kron’s formula is utilized in order to consider the transmission losses. The effectiveness of the proposed method isvalidated by carrying out simulation studies on three test cases. Numerical and comparison results confirm the reliability of the proposed method. Moreover, in comparison with some recently published papers, MGSO has better performance on solving nonconvex CHPED problem in a limited runtime period
