Abstract:
In this paper we set out to conceptualize organizational knowledge management and explore its implications for knowledge management. Organizational knowledge is the capability members of an organization have developed to draw distinctions in the process of carrying out their work, in particular concrete contexts. Within the knowledge era, it has become widely recognized that the intangible assets of an organization will be key to its ability to create competitive advantage.Knowledge management is a relatively new and emerging field that has introduced a methodology for the planned capture and re-use of organizational knowledge. Knowledge management refers to strategies and structures for maximizing the return on intellectual capital and information resources. The purpose of this paper is to explore the role of managers in developing a meaningful management of organizational knowledge. The relationship between managers roles and skills with knowledge management is emphasized. It is the explicit and systematic management of vital knowledge and its associated processes of creation, organization, diffusion, use and exploitation. Organizational Knowledge management is an effort to capture not only explicit factual information but also the tacit information in order to advance the organization's mission. Organizational Knowledge management depends on managers skills and technological processes of creation, collection, sharing, recombination and reuse. The ultimate goal is to create new strategies by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of managers roles by sharing knowledge among members of the organization thereby sharpening organization to achieve competitive advantage over times.
