Abstract:

This study attempts to clarify the relation of building energy usage in creating sustainable environment. Considering recent environmental crisis, there is a serious need for developing an optimized solution of sustainability in building that will help living in a healthy, comfortable, technologically advanced world. We are facing new challenges over global warming, climate change and the incompatibility of natural resources and energy demand due to the depletion of energy resources and long-term supply of fossil fuels. This needs to promote new programs for high efficient and even zero-energy buildings to have an intelligent system design as one of their core elements. Recently, the consideration of natural resources and energy conservation has become a global issue. Various studies have been carried out focusing on the concepts of energy maintenance, embodied energy and renewable energy resources, leading to the concept of the green sustainably built environment. Energy efficiency is the first step toward achieving sustainability in buildings and infrastructures. It helps control rising of energy costs, reduce environmental impacts, and increase the value and competitiveness of buildings. Energy efficiency is most effective when partnered with renewable energy technology, intelligent systems and data enhancements, as well as educated building occupants. The study describes the trends and applications of energy in green building design and the respective effect on sustainable developments
