Experimental Study Of Rip Currents abstract

The rip current is a type of wave - induced current which is also known as mass transport. In this type of current its speed will increase rapidly with the gradual mounting of the height of the waves. Initially this type of current will produce a slope in the water surface which is inclined from the breaker zone toward the shore area. ( I.A.Svendsen & Kevin Hass , 1999 ) In this research , a physical model was tested in three separated stages to identify and analyze the formation of Rip currents and study their effects on the sediment transport and the change of the shore and seabed morphology . The velocity profile of currents was also measured experimentally .
