Abstract:
This research examines the attributes of reducing cycle time in new product development (NPD) in an Iranian EPC and gasoil tank manufacturer which is mainly involved in the oil and gas industry. This industry as the heart of Iran economy, addresses a major concern from governmental and international resources point of view. Given a continuing set of sanctions against Iran, this study characterizes the process of cycle time reduction in different levels including organizational issues, firm resources, methods and techniques used, and performance measuring tools. The level of impact due to each of four main perspectives is mentioned and consequently the results provided in this research highlighted a number of implementation tools and techniques. A survey of experts and managers who are involved in the oil and gas industry and in particular gasoil tank manufacturing, which is the main industry in Iran, is used to test the relationship between the constructs and time as a leading indicator. The data shows that all four factors are correlated to cycle time and affect the quality perceived by the lead user and cost of the project during sanction
