Design and Implementation of a 200kV/2000kVAResonant High Voltage Test System abstract
High voltage test systems are widely used to perform various tests in several fields of electric power industry. In this paper, a resonant test system rating 200kV/2000kVA is designed to test capacitive high voltage equipment especially high voltage cables up to 132kV rated voltage. After a brief review of procedures and standards, the design of components is elaborated in detail. Also, after a primary design and choosing system parameters, a complete simulation is performed to get the required final characteristics of the test system like attenuating high requencies in the partial discharge band and producing a proper voltage wave shape. Since the implementation of the final test system takes a lot of time as well as cost, a pilot test system based on the same design is implemented to certify the various aspects of the design and simulation. According to practical measurements from the pilot system and simulation results, the final test system meets voltage, power, and partial discharge requirements defined by IEC standards and other established norms.
