Maintenance-free dehudtating Breather for Transformers and OLTC’s (Application with Drying Assembly) abstract
In contemporary applications (transformers, on-load tap changers, industrial processes, etc.) using conventional dehydrating breathers with silica gel or similar drying agents, the periodic sight checks and recurrent replacement of the used-up grandla te are a considerable cost factor. In normal operation the air flowing to the oil conservator has to pass the silica gel and is dried on the way. The desiccant absorbing capacity (hygroscopicity) is used up sometime between 3 and 12 months (median values), depending on the type of application, and the desiccant has to be replaced. The new development of maintenance-free dehydrating breathers (M TraB) offer the perfect solution to these problems.
