Fire in Zoroastrianism and Spiritual Couplets of Maulana abstract
Fire has always been inspirational and attractive for literary men and mystics, among those Iranian’s involvement in it was greater than others. Fire is the best purifier and at the same time the purest element. As a result, fire is the symbol of Zoroastrianism. Fire and light in ancient Iranian’s literature are the symbol and sign of God’s existence, the glowing beams radiating from the holy nature of God, knowledge and gnostic, love, understanding of wisdom and the way toward divine nature. Maulana beautifully expressed it in his spiritual couplets1. In his mind fire evokes many concepts and notions such as divine love, temptation, covetousness, mortification, lust, Devil and heavenly spirit
