Abstract:
The spherical particles of mesoporous silicates SBA-15 were synthesized. The SBA-15 spheres were obtained using pluronics P123 (EO PO EO ) as a surfactant coupled with cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) as a co-surfactant. Ethanol played a very important role in the formation of silica spheres. The SBA-15 samples were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and FTIR. Methyl violet (MV) removal from aqueous solution by SBA-15 was examined. Bath adsorption studies were performed to evaluate the influences of various experimental parameters like initial pH, adsorbent mass and contact time of dye with SBA- on the uptake of removal of MV. Kinetics of MV removal by SBA- was fitted by Pseudo- second – order model
